Obtaining Planning Permission

The addition of PV modules or thermal collectors to your home or property requires permission from the Department of Planning. Solar Bermuda Ltd. is well versed in these applications and can manage all parts of your submission, dealing directly with architects and planners on your behalf.

Any solar application under 80 sq ft, such as solar hot water systems, solar pool pumps and small scale photovoltaic (PV) systems can be applied for as a Permitted Development application. This is a straightforward application usually takes 5 working days to process.

Solar applications larger than 80 square feet require a DAP1 application, which can take up to 8-12 weeks to process.

Bermuda Government Rebates

All solar hot water and PV systems are eligible for rebates from the Department of Planning. As part of our service, Solar Bermuda will manage your rebate application and subsequent payment request upon job completion. All rebates are paid by the Department of Energy directly to the client upon Solar Bermuda’s completion of the project.

50 gallon Heliodyne system = $1,253 REBATE

80 gallon Heliodyne system = $1,500 MAX REBATE

120 gallon Heliodyne system = $1,500 MAX REBATE

SPRI – Solar Photovoltaic Rebate Initiative

Photovoltaic Rebates are available at $1.00 per installed watt up to a maximum of $5000.00.
